How to prepare and submit your sample
HairSense Nutrition is a non-invasive hair analysis process that supports personalised food and household item compatibility insight. This guide walks you through exactly what to do, step by step.
What is HairSense Nutrition?
HairSense Nutrition is not an allergy or intolerance test and does not diagnose or treat medical conditions.
It is a bioenergetic food compatibility analysis that compares your hair sample against a database of over 600 foods and household items to identify which items may be more or less compatible with your body at this point in time.
The results are used as a practical food awareness tool, helping reduce guesswork and support more confident, informed nutrition choices.
What you’ll need
Before you begin, have the following ready
• Clean scissors
• A small glad bag
• Black marker
• Smartphone to take a photo
Step by step instructions
1. Cut your hair sample
Cut a small hair sample approximately the size of your thumbnail.
Hair can be taken from the head or another area of the body.
2. Place hair into a bag
Place the hair sample into a glad bag and seal it securely.
3. Label the bag clearly
Using a black marker, clearly write
• Your full name
• Practitioner: “Chantel Ryan – Real Functional Health”
This ensures the laboratory can accurately match your hair sample to your application details.
4. Take a photo of your sample
Take a clear photo of the labelled hair sample. You’ll be asked to upload this photo in the online application form so we can confirm your sample has been sent and matched correctly.
5. Complete the online application form
The information you provide allows us to prepare and submit your test request to the laboratory on your behalf.

Once posted, no further action is required from you until your results are ready.
What happens next?
• Sample processing takes approximately two weeks
• Your personalised compatibility report is prepared
• When your report is complete, you’ll receive a booking link for your included 15-minute results review, where we’ll explain your results and how to apply them as a short-term food guide (approximately 6 months).
